Design Plan
Still Alive
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Still Alive.” This design plan proposes three spatial sequences. The “Crying Ground” covers the towers' footprints in walls of water. The “Living Memory” imagines a promenade that runs along West Street, featuring olive trees dedicated to the memory of each victim and nourished by the waters from the “Crying Ground.” The last element is the “Link to Liberty,” which pulls the water from the “Living Memory” promenade, elevating the water to the sky and projecting an artificial cloud reflecting the Statue of Liberty’s eyes.
