Design Plan
A Resting Place
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “A Resting Place.” This design plan incorporates a large portion of the city, beginning on 34th Street in Midtown where a garden of apple trees would be planted on the West Side and continue south past illuminated markers, one for each victim. This 1.45-mile-long path, constructed along the High Line, will lead to the World Trade Center site. This plan envisions the memorial as a pilgrimage. At the tower footprints, there will be two empty plots where unkempt wilderness will grow.
