Design Plan
- Description
- Untitled foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003. This design plan proposes an open-air memorial. In the footprint of the North Tower is a theater for ceremonies and celebrations; the footprint of the South Tower is a reflection pool. The pool is surrounded by a slab with the names of the victims inscribed and a bench for sitting. Above the pool, a large balloon can be extended upwards to the height of 1,365 feet viewable from all over the city just as the towers used to be visible in the skyline. Additional elements of the design include a Pentagon memorial, plane crash memorial, and garden.
