Even the Birds are on Fire
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003 titled “Even the Birds Are on Fire.” This design plan proposes memorials placed across the country to signify the impact of the event felt nationally. The primary memorial site would be paved as a bare plaza, with the tower footprints inset as a grid; each square would represent a victim and include their name. These grids would be covered in water. Nationally, over 3,000 markers would be set in a tended grass square and placed randomly across America. An algorithm would generate random locations for the memorial markers to be created and oriented to the same coordinates as the Twin Towers.
