Design Plan
World Trade Center Rainbow Memorial
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “World Trade Center Rainbow Memorial.” This design plan features a rainbow tower rising 250 feet high that is constructed from iridescent glass and steel mounted on a stone base. The obelisk shines with sunlight reflecting prisms, glass balls, and other translucent objects. These rays create a rainbow effect atop the obelisk that scatters across the site. Other design elements include a glazed wall with victims' names, statues of victims walking out of the rubble, statues of responders, and a pathway through the wreckage of Ground Zero.
