Design Plan
- Description
- Untitled foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003. This design plan proposes three circles at the site: one in the center and one in each of the tower footprints. The center circle houses a piece of the remnant facade with the tridents filled in with colored glass; the circle will also contain the unidentified remains. The circle on the South Tower footprint contains a grove of trees. The circle on the North Tower footprint presents a visual display device projecting a slideshow of visual memories. Also included in this design is a technology called “HyperSonic Sound,” which directs sound waves to specific locations on the site. These sounds could be a reading of the victim's names, recorded audio from the original towers, or spoken recollections.
