Design Plan
Flower Memorial Garden
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Flower Memorial Garden.” This design plan is inspired by the tradition of leaving flowers at a site of tragedy. Two floral garlands filled with glass lightboxes frame the towers' footprints. Within the lightboxes are pictures of different hands offering a flower, representing people from all over the world. The design also includes a glass-paneled house presenting the same floral hand images; this space would be for family members. An adjacent golden pavilion is for unidentified remains. The rest of the site would have a garden-like environment.
