Design Plan
Uniqueness, Randomness, and Interconnection: A Community of Light
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Uniqueness, Randomness, and Interconnection: A Community of Light.” This design plan proposes creating a unique time capsule for each victim which families will fill with meaningful items that will then be buried at the site. The time capsules, made of chrome and glass, are buried under a beacon of light. Different colors of light and engravings help to distinguish the victims. The plan also includes reflecting pools, a dome with the unidentified remains, and a relief sculpture to honor responders.
