Design Plan
Tragedy is Loud, A Memorial Should Not be Silent
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Tragedy is Loud, A Memorial Should Not be Silent.” This design plan anticipates that visitors will return to the site frequently, as the atmosphere and experience changes daily depending on the weather. The design includes windpipes of different diameters depending on the different ages of the victims, each engraved with a name. The weather impacts how the windpipes sound. The design also includes a grove of fruit trees, a memorial to the unidentified remains, and a memorial to the responders created from fire and water.
