Design Plan
- Description
- Untitled foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003. This design plan proposes a cubic stone for each tower footprint. Each side of the stone lists the victims' names. The stones move as timepieces in small increments across the footprint, pushing gravel throughout the year. The day after the anniversary, the gravel is raked smooth, and the process begins again. This designer used the idea of “autobiographical self” as a concept that connects groups of people. The memorial is meant to be a template for visitors to find meaning in their memory and to heal from their traumatic witness of the event.
