Design Plan
Traces of People
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Traces of People.” This design plan uses a rubber mat, placed atop a bed of water, that sinks slightly when people stand on it. Visitors to the site give shape to the memorial plane with their own footprints. The original footprints of the towers are replaced with a grass surface for the South Tower in front of a waterfall. The North Tower becomes a water basin. Benches engraved with the names of the victims surround the footprints.
