Gardens of Unlimited Possibility

Description

Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003 titled “Gardens of Unlimited Possibility.” This design plan proposes fields of wildflowers to grow in the place of the tower footprints. Glass columns rise around the fields creating a perimeter and weaving naturally through the fields. The columns illuminate at night, and during the day, visitors see surviving elements of the original towers suspended within them. Three stairway structures within each field rise to the sky, ending in midair. Within the stairs are places to sit and to leave memory stones. They are filled with chimes that interact with the wind and people.
