Design Plan
The Ocean of Streams of Story
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003 titled, “The Ocean of Streams of Story.” This design plan is inspired by water. The South Tower footprint would form a great waterfall, known as the Fountain of Origins. From the waterfall, streams would rush through over 3,000 glass monoliths and flow slowly and meditatively through the site alongside the Ribbons of Names, which are cast-glass engraved with victims' names. The streams then lead to the North Tower footprint, descending past the Streams of Monitors: monitors mounted on walls projecting images and memories of the victims. Eventually, the streams empty into a Great Reflecting Pool.
