- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “3,000 Windows.” This design plan proposes to remember the victims as more than just names carved into stone, but rather a living memorial. Each victim would have a short film created about their life and displayed on screens of varying sizes across the site in a variety of ways. A “Pavilion of Memory” will be erected on the North Tower’s footprint, where these films can be watched through windows reminiscent of the World Trade Center facade windows. Within the South Tower footprint is a Pavilion of Peace, which contains a sarcophagus made from recovered steel to hold the unidentified remains. A final element includes an interactive memorial where visitors can leave messages and objects in tribute.
