Design Plan
Forest of Light
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Forest of Light.” This design plan utilizes over 3,000 individual glass stems that cast light and sound, animating each stem to represent each life taken. Solar energy collected by the stems during the day powers the light of the stems at night. At the root of each stem is a projection onto transparent film of a memory chosen by each victim's family. These projections could be photographs, moving images, songs, poems, or a name reflected and refracted inside the stem and projected into the sky.
