Design Plan
The Persistence of Memory
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003 titled "The Persistence of Memory." This design plan incorporates a structure created from eight granite columns standing 60 feet high. Resting on top of the columns are metal sculptures of the Twin Towers. When standing at the memorial's center and looking up towards the sky, images of the towers will appear as they once stood from that perspective. A unique element of this plan includes the creation of smaller memorials erected at numerous locations around the city, where visitors could view images of the towers from different vantage points.
