- Painting of a baseball player at bat by Yoichi Sumiyama Sugiyama, painted when he was a young boy. Below the painting is handwritten text in Japanese. A sticker in the lower right corner describes the work: "He drew this at the 4th grade of a primary school. He wrote that the batting form was difficult to draw. By the uniform number, this picture is guessed to be Mr. Nagashima, the hero for baseball-loving boys."
- Historical Notes
- A native of Shizuoka, Japan, Yoichi Sumiyama Sugiyama moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey, with his wife, Harumi, and their two young sons in fall 2000. A year later, the couple was expecting their third child. Yoichi was a baseball fan, especially of Shigeo Nagashima, the Tokyo Giants’ star player. On September 11, Yoichi was on the South Tower’s 80th floor at Fuji Bank, where he was a manager. He was 34 years old.
