Steel Fragment, Recovered

M2

Description
Damaged steel remnant from the facade of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.  Known as M-2, the steel is completely mangled from the damage sustained from the impact of Flight 11 on September 11, 2001.
Historical Notes
On 9/11, hijacked Flight 11 tore into the north facade of the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., creating a gash from the 93rd through the 99th floors and causing complete and partial collapses at the points of impact and on surrounding floors. Some column sections were forced inward, and others broke free of the building.
