- Black framed shadowbox created in memory of William L. Henry, Jr. The shadowbox is filled with cut-out photographs of Henry, his family, and friends. Printed text along the edge of the frame reads: "FF. William L. Henry | Family and Friends He Left Behind."

- Native New Yorker William Henry lived in Jamaica, Queens. He took annual trips to South America, packing socks and other necessities to donate to needy children. A 20-year FDNY veteran, William served at Rescue Company 1. On the morning of September 11, Firefighter Henry had finished his shift when the alarm sounded for the World Trade Center. He responded with his unit. He was 49 years old.
Curator's Comment
William Henry, Jr., was a familiar face to his neighbors and to friends and children in Brazil, where he traveled for humanitarian work. The faces of those whom Henry befriended over the years and who were recipients of his good will and generosity are commemorated in this collage of photographs enclosed in a shadowbox created by his sister, Ellen Henry-James. Depicted in his FDNY dress uniform, Henry is at the center of this acquaintance circle. Two such shadowboxes were made by his family. One, composed in the early years after the attacks, hangs in the home of his mother. The other was created by his sister as a remembrance piece and donated to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
