- Historical Notes
- Born in Sunnyside on Staten Island, Alfred Braca lived in Middletown, New Jersey, with his wife, Jean. The couple had four children. Cantor Fitzgerald coworkers called Alfred, a church deacon, “the Rev.” In a World Trade Center stairwell after the 1993 bombing, Alfred prayed for fellow evacuees. On September 11, Alfred was at work as a bond broker on the 104th floor of the North Tower. He was 54 years old.
Curator's Comment
On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, as on any business day, tens of thousands of people commuted to the World Trade Center and lower Manhattan by car, ferry, subway, bus, bicycle, and train. Alfred Braca, a bond broker for Cantor Fitzgerald, commuted to the World Trade Center from New Jersey using a Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) train. This PATH ticket was recovered after 9/11.
