Award plaque belonging to Ann Walsh McGovern. The award is a wooden plaque with a black placard and gold text:

- Bronx native Ann Walsh McGovern lived with her husband, Larry, in East Meadow, Long Island. After the couple’s three children were grown, Ann, a longtime schoolteacher, went back to college and launched a new career, rising to vice president at Aon Corporation. On weekends, she often golfed and visited her grandchildren. On September 11, Ann was at work on the South Tower’s 92nd floor. She was 68 years old.
Curator's Comment
Ann McGovern’s first sporting love was tennis. However, when she transitioned back into the workplace after raising three children, she decided to pursue golf so that she could attend golfing events with her coworkers. She joined a country club, took private golf lessons, and played almost every weekend to improve her skills. On August 31, 2001, Ann scored a hole-in-one at the Stonebridge Golf Links on Long Island, a feat commemorated in this plaque. The course later installed a memorial to Ann at the ninth hole.
