- Dollar bill with handwritten message along the edge: "God Bless My Good Friend Michael Horrocks | Co-pilot of the '2nd Plane' at WTC. Heaven is the Jersey Shore—see you there!" The message refers to Michael Robert Horrocks.
- Historical Notes
- Chester, Pennsylvania native Michael Robert Horrocks lived in Glen Mills with his wife, Miriam, and their two children. Michael learned to fly planes as a U.S. Marine and was a flight instructor before becoming a commercial pilot. On September 11, Michael was the first officer of United Airlines Flight 175. Before takeoff, he called home to talk with his children before they left for school. He was 38 years old.
Curator's Comment
In June 2014, this pen-annotated U.S. dollar bill was mailed to the museum with the following story enclosed: “I run a small family farm market in Chicago. This bill turned up in my change about two weeks after the attack. I am sure you can give the bill a better home than I can.”
