- White seashell left at the 9/11 Memorial in memory of Michael Joseph Cawley. The shell has a handwritten message on the front: "God | Bless | FDNY | firefighter | Michael Joseph | L136 Cawley R4 | Please Remember him | & Never Forget 9-11-01."
- Historical Notes
- Born in Queens, Michael Cawley lived in North Bellmore, Long Island. After years of saving up, he bought his dream home there. A firefighter with FDNY Ladder Company 136, Michael earned a commendation for rescuing a man who had been electrocuted while fixing power lines. On September 11, although off duty, Firefighter Cawley responded to the World Trade Center with Rescue Company 4. He was 32 years old.

This seashell was left at the base of the Survivor Tree on the 9/11 Memorial for Michael Joseph Cawley on September 19, 2014.
