Token
- Description
- Small metal heart-shaped token created in memory of Michael Boyle. The token has a star-shaped cutout of the top right side. Text engraved on the front reads: "Mike | Boyle | 91101 | FF." The reverse side of the token is engraved like an American flag.
- Historical Notes
- Raised in Queens, Michael Boyle lived in Westbury, Long Island. A firefighter in FDNY Engine Company 33 with a passion for politics, Michael had rearranged his schedule to take off Election Day—September 11—to work for the campaign of a City Council candidate with a friend, Firefighter David Arce. Instead, both men responded to the towers, where they perished. Firefighter Boyle was 37 years old.
