T-Shirt
- Description
- Navy blue T-shirt created in memory of Joseph Lovero. The shirt features a Maltese cross emblem on the left breast with printed text inside the cross: "Jersey | City | Fire | Dept. | Fire | Communications" with "32" in the center, the numbers flanking an image of the Twin Towers. Above the cross is is printed text: "In Memory Of | Joseph Lovero." And "Sept. 11, 2001" is printed below. The back of the shirt includes an image of the skyline with the Twin Towers and printed text: "In Memory of | Joseph Lovero | 32 | Dispatcher | Box 001 | New York City | Sept. 11, 2001." An image of an old-fashioned red call box is printed over the skyline.
- Historical Notes
- Joseph Lovero lived in his native Jersey City, New Jersey. He had three children. A heart condition foiled his plan to be a firefighter, so Joseph served the profession in other ways, as a Jersey City Fire Department dispatcher and as a volunteer assistant at the scene of major fires. On September 11, he responded to the towers with the Jersey City Fire Department. He was 60 years old.
