- Description
- Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary medal awarded to Lawrence Provost. The bronze medal features a shield and bald eagle with spread wings adapted from the Great Seal of the United States, superimposed over two crossed swords enclosed in a laurel wreath. The reverse is embossed: "WAR ON TERRORISM | EXPEDITIONS" with a bald eagle and two crossed swords depicted in the center. The medal is attached to a multicolored ribbon with a bar pin for affixing to a uniform.
- Historical Notes
- A member of the U.S. Army Reserve, Lawrence Provost responded to Ground Zero on 9/11. A year later he joined his unit on a six-month mission to Afghanistan. Like all who were deployed for combat in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2001 to 2005, Provost was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
