T-Shirt
- Description
- White T-shirt created for a memorial event held in memory of Kathy N. Mazza. On the left breast of the shirt is a photo transfer depicting Mazza and printed text: "Captain | Kathy Mazza." On the back of the shirt is printed text: "The | Captain Kathy Mazza | Memorial Foundation | 5K Walkathon | September 21, 2003." The Port Authority Police Department logo is also printed on the back, along with a list of the event sponsors.
- Historical Notes
- Massapequa, Long Island, native Kathy Mazza lived in Farmingdale with her husband, Christopher. A former nurse, Kathy joined the PAPD in 1987 and became the first female commanding officer of its police academy. She taught emergency medical skills and championed a successful initiative to equip airports with heart defibrillators. On September 11, Captain Mazza responded to the towers. She was 46 years old.
