- Unfinished knitting belonging to Charles Alan Zion, one off-white knitted square and one partially complete light yellow knitted square, still attached to the needle.
- Historical Notes
- Born in Rochester, New York, Charles Zion lived in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his wife, Carole, and their teenage son, Zachary. When Charles took up golf, Carole and Zachary did too, so they could play together. After work as a senior vice president at Cantor Fitzgerald, Charles relaxed with another hobby: knitting. On September 11, he was at work on the North Tower’s 103rd floor. He was 54 years old.
Curator's Comment
Charles Zion balanced his demanding role as an equities trader at Cantor Fitzgerald with many hobbies. Described by his younger sister as someone who “lived life big,” Charles loved to play golf, drink Wild Turkey bourbon, and grill steaks while wearing his favorite apron and bandana. To relax after work, Charles took up knitting. He started this piece shortly before his death on 9/11. It is unfinished, with yarn still attached to one of the needles.
