Baseball Cap
- Description
- U.S. Open baseball cap belonging to Jan Maciejewski. The cap is off-white with "2001" embroidered in red and black on the front with a flaming tennis ball swooping around the year. "US Open" is embroidered on the side of the bill.
- Historical Notes
- Born in Poland, Jan Maciejewski moved to the United States as a young man. He lived in Astoria, Queens, with his wife, Mary, and enjoyed playing soccer and tennis. Jan held two jobs, one as a computer consultant and the other as a waiter at Windows on the World. On September 11, he was at the restaurant on the North Tower’s 107th floor, covering the breakfast shift for a coworker. Jan was 37 years old.
