- Bowling league plaque presented to Harry Ramos. The plaque is gold with engraved text that reads: "SPANISH AMERICAN | MIXED LGE | 1994-95 | MANY THANKS FOR ALL | YOUR DEDICATED TIME & | EFFORT | HARRY RAMOS | VICE-PRESIDENT." The plaque is mounted on wood with added gold-colored detailing and an image in the center of a bowling lane with pins and a ball.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn-born Harry Ramos lived in Newark, New Jersey. He and his wife, Migdalia, had two sons. Harry often brought flowers for Migdalia on Fridays after work as an equities trader at the May Davis Group. On September 11, while evacuating from his office on the North Tower’s 87th floor, Harry helped a stranger, Victor Wald, down the stairs. The two were last seen on the 36th floor. Harry was 45 years old.
Curator's Comment
Harry Ramos changed careers from carpentry to finance and worked as a head equity trader at May Davis Group. Known as a sharp dresser and a great dancer, Harry also enjoyed bowling. He was awarded this plaque by the Spanish American Mixed League for serving as the league’s vice president. After 9/11, a bowling league in Newark, New Jersey, where Harry had lived with his wife and two sons, was named for him. An annual bowling tournament in his parents’ native Puerto Rico was also renamed in his honor.
