- Auto racing jacket belonging to Karen Sue Juday. The jacket is red, with the Marlboro Racing logo embroidered on the left breast and with "TEAM PENSKE" embroidered in white below the logo. The Hugo Boss logo is embroidered in black on the right chest. On the back of the jacket is the Marlboro Racing logo again, with "TEAM PENSKE" below.
- Historical Notes
- Karen Juday was born in Bremen, Indiana. She had two grown children. In 1997, at an auto race in Pennsylvania, she met a fellow NASCAR fan from Brooklyn named Richard. The two fell in love and got engaged. Karen moved to Brooklyn with Richard and joined Cantor Fitzgerald as an administrative assistant. On September 11, she was at work on the North Tower’s 101st floor. Karen was 52 years old.
Curator's Comment
Karen Juday was a devoted fan of professional auto racing who traveled to racetracks across the country to support her brother, a mechanic with Team Penske. In April 1997, she met her future fiancé, Richard, at an IndyCar race in Pennsylvania. Soon after, Karen relocated to Brooklyn to be with Richard and secured a job as an administrative assistant at Cantor Fitzgerald. The couple enjoyed weekend trips to the beach, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas, where they had planned to marry in June 2002.
