- Trophy from the Barry McKeon Memorial Parent/Child Golf Tournament held in memory of Barry J. McKeon. The trophy has a set of golf clubs, golf shoe, tee with golf ball, and pin flag mounted on the top and an engraved placard on the base. Text on the placard reads: "Barry McKeon Memorial | Parent/Child Tournament | 2002."
- Historical Notes
- Barry McKeon was born in Rockville Centre, Long Island. He met his wife, Virginia, at a movie theater where both had worked as teenagers, he as an usher and she selling candy. Married for 24 years, they had four children and lived in Yorktown Heights, New York. Barry was an executive vice president at Fiduciary Trust. On September 11, he was at work on the South Tower’s 90th floor. He was 47 years old.
Curator's Comment
Barry McKeon lived in Yorktown Heights, New York, and was a member of Mahopac Golf Club in nearby Mahopac. He often played there with his son, Ryan. After 9/11, the golf club hosted an annual parent-child tournament in Barry’s memory.
