Trowel Case
Description
Black trowel case attached to a hose strap. The hose strap is a twisted rope with a metal hook attached to the end. The strap is slid through the belt loop of the trowel case. Both the case and strap are dusty.
Historical Notes
Like many rescue and recovery workers, George Luis Torres, a firefighter with FDNY Squad 41, adapted equipment to meet specific needs at Ground Zero. Torres used a garden trowel to dig through rubble, fashioning a belt out of a hose strap to carry the trowel and case.
