- Plush teddy bear left at the viewing platform near Ground Zero in memory of Maria Ramirez. The bear is wearing a light-blue shirt with "MISS YOU" printed on the front of the shirt. "Maria Ramirez" is handwritten on the shirt along with a small drawing of a broken heart. A greeting card with a cat on the front is attached to the bear. "Miss You" is printed at the top of the card.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn native Maria Ramirez lived in Canarsie. While vacationing in the Dominican Republic in August 2001, Maria’s boyfriend, David, proposed to her. Maria worked as an office manager at Langan Engineering and Environmental Sciences at 90 West Street, across from the Twin Towers. On September 11, she was trapped in an elevator in her building when the South Tower collapsed. Maria was 25 years old.
