- Memorial plaque created in memory of Tonyell F. McDay. The plaque is wood with an image depicting McDay superimposed over an image of the Twin Towers and with an American flag background and text: "A World Trade Center Heroine | September 11, 2001 | Tonyell Fannae McDay." Engraved below the image is a poem titled "God's Angel Forever With Us" by Darnell Patrick.
- Historical Notes
- Jersey City, New Jersey, native Tonyell McDay lived in Colonia with her parents. She was a published poet and a gospel singer who sang with a choir that was about to record its first album. With skills honed as a computer help desk analyst at Marsh & McLennan, Tonyell often repaired friends’ computers for free. On September 11, she was at work on the North Tower’s 97th floor. Tonyell was 25 years old.
