Hard Hat
- Description
- Plastic hard hat with cap-style brim and interior ratchet suspension. The hard hat is orange with "OEM | A05848" written on the front in black marker. "OEM" is written on the back. On the left side is a small American flag sticker. This hat is fitted with black protective ear muffs that rotate to rest on the sides of the hat when not in use. The hat and ear muffs are slightly dirty.

Immediately after 9/11, Cliff Archer volunteered with the New York City Office of Emergency Management helping to coordinate some of the distribution of food and supplies to recovery workers at Ground Zero. Throughout the month of September, Archer provided his services at the OEM Mobile Command Bus escorting military and government personnel around the site, directing traffic into and out of the site on West Street, serving as a liaison for families, and various other tasks. He wore this hard hat while performing these duties near Ground Zero.
