- Blue mesh baseball cap created in memory of Gary R. Box. "IN MEMORY OF GARY BOX | 9-11-01 | NEVER FORGET" is embroidered in yellow and white text with an image of a shield and a Maltese cross in the center. "FDNY" and the Twin Towers are embroidered in the cross.
- Historical Notes
- Wantagh, Long Island, native Gary Box lived in North Bellmore with his wife, Kathleen, and their two children. Gary enjoyed playing with his children and fixing things around the family home. He had worked repairing cars and laying tile before joining FDNY Squad 1. On September 11, after traffic slowed his company’s truck, Firefighter Box headed to the towers on foot. He was 37 years old.
