Hard Hat
- Description
- Plastic bump-style hard hat with cap-style brim and interior suspension. The hard hat is yellow with "JOM" handwritten on the front. The hat is covered in various handwritten notes and signatures. A large black Bethlehem Steel sticker on the back of the hat has printed text: "So you think Safety is Boring. . ." A Union Ironworkers sticker is on the right side of the hat.

- Brooklyn resident Debora Jackson had the impulse to help after 9/11. She began volunteering with the Salvation Army and eventually spent several months serving in the respite/relief tents around Ground Zero. Jackson built strong relationships with recovery workers she met at the site, many of whom signed her hard hat.
