- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native Norma Steuerle lived in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, Eugene. The couple had two grown daughters. A clinical psychologist with her own practice, Norma also volunteered at community service events through her church. On September 11, she boarded Flight 77 on the first part of a journey to Asia, where her husband and a daughter were working. She was 54 years old.
Curator's Comment
Norma Steuerle, a clinical psychologist, participated in community events organized by her church in Alexandria, Virginia. One program, a discussion and reflection group, was the beginning of several deep and lasting friendships. Norma and her husband, Eugene, met with other couples regularly for 22 years to talk about books, articles, and films. Norma was an enthusiastic host known for sharing thoughtful and honest reflections on the month’s topic. This book was one of Norma’s selections for group discussion.
