- Memorial bookmark created in memory of Calixto Anaya, Jr. The bookmark includes a photograph of Anaya and printed text: "Calixto Anaya, Jr. | 'Charlie,'" with the emblem for the U.S. Marine Corps at the bottom. The reverse side of the bookmark includes a poem titled "The Last Request."
- Historical Notes
- Native New Yorker Calixto Anaya lived in Suffern with his wife, Marie, and their three children. The former U.S. Marine flew the U.S. flag when the family was camping or at the beach as well as at home. He was a firefighter at FDNY Engine Company 4 and a volunteer at Suffern’s firehouse. On September 11, Firefighter Anaya responded to the World Trade Center with his unit. He was 35 years old.
