- Memorial button created in memory of Gerard A. Barbara and left at the 9/11 Memorial. The button includes a photograph of Gerard in his FDNY formal uniform cap and jacket. Printed text on the button reads: "18th Annual | CHIEF | JERRY BARBARA | GAME | JUNE 15, 2019." The Staten Island Yankees logo is in the lower left corner.
- Historical Notes
- Born in Brooklyn, Gerard Barbara lived on Staten Island with his wife, Joanne. The couple had two grown children. With a firefighting career spanning 31 years, on September 11, Gerard was serving as Assistant Chief of Department and Citywide Tour Commander. That morning, Assistant Chief Barbara responded from FDNY headquarters, subsequently assisting command outside the South Tower. He was 53 years old.

This button was left on the S-18 parapet of the South Pool on the 9/11 Memorial for Gerard A. Barbara on September 11, 2019.
