- Pair of black leather men's dress shoes belonging to James Nicholas Pappageorge. The shoes are worn and dirty. "JNP | 3322" is written in black marker on the inside of the shoe.
- Historical Notes
- James Pappageorge grew up in Queens. He lived in Yonkers, New York, with his fiancée, Gina, and her son, whom he coached in sports. A former emergency medical technician, James kept a full medical kit in his white Mustang. He joined FDNY Engine Company 23 in July 2001 and continued to work as a paramedic. On September 11, Firefighter Pappageorge responded to the World Trade Center. He was 29 years old.
