- Description
- Infrared reflective stealth flag patch, visible as a black and gray American flag under visible light and reflects as a flag under night vision. There is Velcro on the back of the patch.
- Historical Notes
- On May 1, 2011, at 10:30 p.m. local time, two Blackhawk helicopters piloted by Army aviators transported 23 SEALs, an interpreter, and a combat dog from a U.S. base in Jalalabad, Afghanistan to Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Two additional Chinook helicopters followed them into Pakistan with extra fuel and a backup force. One of the backup Chinook helicopters was piloted by Douglas M. Englen, 3rd Command Chief Warrant Officer of the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Aviation Command. Englen wore this patch during his various missions during the War on Terror, including his involvement in Operation Neptune Spear.
