- Rectangular black military patch with white printed text that reads: "DOUGLAS 'MUFF' ENGLEN | CW5 | U.S. ARMY." Depicted on the patch is the U.S. Army Master aviator wings and a small rendering of a Chinook helicopter. There is Velcro on the back of the patch.
- Historical Notes
- On May 1, 2011, at 10:30 p.m. local time, two Blackhawk helicopters piloted by Army aviators transported 23 SEALs, an interpreter, and a combat dog from a U.S. base in Jalalabad, Afghanistan to Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Two additional Chinook helicopters followed them into Pakistan with extra fuel and a backup force. One of the backup Chinook helicopters was piloted by Douglas M. Englen, 3rd Command Chief Warrant Officer of the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Aviation Command.
