- Description
- Small commemorative flag created in memory of Walter Philip Travers. The Walter Travers Commemorative Flag was designed by artist Hank Gallucci, and features a photograph of Travers in the top center between the Twin Towers, flanked by the Roman numerals IX and XI. Eleven white stars divide the blue top portion of the flag and the red and white stripes on the bottom. The flag is enclosed in a frame and "The W-T-C Flag | The Wally Travers Commemorative Flag" is printed below the flag in the frame.
- Historical Notes
- Native New Yorker Walter Travers lived in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, with his wife, Rosemary, and their three children. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and Giants and enjoyed taking colleagues to games. He also coached youth baseball, basketball, and soccer. A bond broker at Cantor Fitzgerald, on September 11, Walter was at his office on the North Tower’s 104th floor. He was 44 years old.
