Description
Recovered American flag, torn, wrinkled, and covered in dust.
Historical Notes
While searching for survivors in the ruins of the World Trade Center near West and Vesey Streets, NYPD Detective Peter Boylan discovered a torn and burned American flag in the rubble. Several other American flags and remnants of tattered flags were recovered from the World Trade Center site.
