Memorial flag created in memory of Stephen Gerard Siller. The flag is white with a red border and embroidered text that reads: "FDNY | WTC | 9-11-01 | Stephen Siller." In the center is a Maltese cross with "Squad 1 Brooklyn" embroidered inside of the cross's top and bottom and the symbols for firefighting.
On the left side of the flag is a green shamrock, and on the right is an American flag. There are a few signatures on the flag as well as a memorial button for Siller in the lower right corner. A card for Blessed William Joseph Chaminade is affixed to the bottom left with a lapel pin. - Historical Notes
- Staten Island native Stephen Siller lived in West Brighton with his wife, Sarah, and their five children. After a 24-hour shift at FDNY Squad 1, he would often golf with his brothers, lunch with his wife, and play with his children before he slept. On September 11, Firefighter Siller called Sarah after his shift to tell her he would be late. He responded to the towers. He was 34 years old.
