Quilt
- Description
- Handmade quilt created in memory of Carr Futures employees. The quilt is made with red-, white-, and blue-patterned fabrics fabrics with "Carr Futures" stitched in blue at the top and "Rex Putnam" stitched in red at the bottom. The quilt is covered in handwritten signatures and sentiments. The back of the quilt contains the names of Carr Futures victims, as well as some of the company's survivors.
- Historical Notes
- With offices in the North Tower of the World Trade Center, brokerage firm Carr Futures lost 69 employees on September 11, 2001. With connections to the surviving executives of Carr Futures, students at Rex Putnam High School, in Milwaukie, Oregon created a memorial quilt for the firm's victims. Messages from the students and inspirational quotations were written on small squares and pieced together. The back of the quilt features names of Carr Futures employees both victims and survivors.
