Bandana
- Description
- American flag bandana pinned in a half triangle with attached ornaments including a plastic finger board with red, white, and blue yarn wrapped around it; an Operation Desert Storm patch; a U.S. Immigration Services patch; and a U.S. Immigration Officer patch. There are a couple of signatures on one edge of the fabric.
- Historical Notes
- A public viewing platform overlooking Ground Zero on Fulton Street opened on December 30, 2001, and was accessible with free, timed tickets. Its plywood walls were left bare so that visitors might inscribe their own messages and read those left by others. By the time the platforms were disassembled in the summer of 2002, the boards were filled with signatures, inscriptions, memorial cards, and tributes left by tens of thousands of visitors from around the world. Many of the tributes were saved.
