Identification Card
- Description
- Ground Zero access identification card issued to Stephen Roberts. The card includes a photograph, an American flag, and printed text that reads: "WTC 2001 | American Red Cross | STEPHEN ROBERTS | Nat. Spiritual Care." The various colored letters at the bottom refer to access to areas within Ground Zero, Pier 92, or Pier 94 complexes.
- Historical Notes
- In September 2001, Rabbi Stephen Roberts was a senior spiritual care officer for the American Red Cross. Rabbi Roberts performed a management role following the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, recruiting and overseeing a large team of chaplains to provide emotional and spiritual care at New York City’s Family Assistance Center, established in the wake of the attacks.
